Student's Handbuilt Miniature of El-Kanemi Wins Director's Special Prize

14 August 2026

In 2016, one El-Kanemi student turned heads across the College with a display few had ever seen: a fully handbuilt miniature model of El-Kanemi College itself, rendered in careful, faithful detail, from the College's central mosque to its rows of classroom blocks. The model was unveiled at a school event, where it quickly became the standout attraction. Staff and students alike gathered around to see the young builder's work, struck by both the patience and the eye for detail on display, a small keepsake capturing the shape of the College in miniature. The College's leadership took notice. In recognition of his talent, [Student's Name] was awarded a full year of free tuition at El-Kanemi, along with a cash prize of thirty thousand naira, presented personally by the Director General. The gesture reflected something the College has long tried to instill in its students: that talent, wherever it shows up, deserves to be seen and rewarded. Years later, the story is still told as one of the clearer examples of El-Kanemi recognizing its own.
